The Journey Begins

We left Calgary on    October 31st 2014 just ahead of a blizzad that brought 2 ft of snow and -19 temperatures. We managed to lose our 5th wheel after 4 blocks!!

Oak Flats Campground about 40 miles east of Pheonix, in the hills just behind Superior AZ. We explored a number of boondocking sites in the area but this one felt like home. There was a nice meadow outside the campground proper that would handle a rig our size without needing to back up - a major consideration at this stage in our journeys.

Oak Flats Campground is about 30 miles from Phoenix in the hills behid Superior Arizona. The campground itself has pit toilets but no other services and there is a campground host. We staued at a flat area outside thecampground that has room for a number of larger RVs/ There is apretty little lake that has lotsof birds flying in. The campground is at 4500 feet so this gets prtty cold in the winter months.
