The Journey Begins

We left Calgary on    October 31st 2014 just ahead of a blizzad that brought 2 ft of snow and -19 temperatures. We managed to lose our 5th wheel after 4 blocks!!

Oak Flats Campground about 40 miles east of Pheonix, in the hills just behind Superior AZ. We explored a number of boondocking sites in the area but this one felt like home. There was a nice meadow outside the campground proper that would handle a rig our size without needing to back up - a major consideration at this stage in our journeys.

quartzsite1Quartzsite is a small Arizona town that is a mecca for RVers during the winter months. It is about 6-700ft higher than Yuma and so is 5-10 degrees cooler. There is not much here in the way of facilities outside of the Big Tent Show in early january.

jennerThe Jenner campground is a city campground and rodeo arena in the heart of farming country. There are pit toilets and a garbage skip as well as a few picnic tables.

severn

Severn Dam is about 50 miles from Calgary between Standard and Rosebud. It is in the middle of a huge agricultrual area with not much in the way of trees of mountains. We spent most of a month here and had pretty nice weather except of a few days of wet and windy.
